When Senator Joseph Liebermann (I-CT) broke party lines to support the President on the War on Terror the Democrats ostracized him and refused to support him for reelection. When Senator John McCain (R-AZ) failed to support his party on conservative judicial nominees in the "Gang of fourteen" the Republican establishment vote went to McCain and Hucklebee and Romney split the conservative vote between fiscal conservatives and religious conservatives. Religious conservatives distancing themselves from Romney over abortion "purists" and antiMormanism.

This situation really produces a very hard question: Are we as Republicans really the only big tent party or are we just crazy? My opinion is that because there was no clear choice for conservatives who are the majority of Republicans the establishment Republicans reemerged as victorious and moved us back to the days before Ronald Reagan. The problem is the they have gained the reigns of a party that cannot win on an establishment ideology. So I predict that conservatives cannot vote for McCain anymore than they could sort-out the Romney Hucklebee choice and that McCain will NEVER be president. When that happens McCain and the establishment Republicans have only themselves to blame. To control a losing party is really crazy! Congratulations to establishment Republicans you now have McCain to reach out to Democrat voters, but you have lost your base and you cannot win. Crazy!

Following the 2000 primary loss Senator McCain sought pay-back from Republicans and President Bush by being an obstructionist. He had his chance to ensure that good judges who served our country well and deserved to move to federal benches were approved. He turned his back on them and the gang of 14 sat on their hands.

Pay-back time for John McCain! I could care less about which liberal stacks the bench, a liberal Democrat or a liberal Republican, but I will follow John McCain's leaderly example and abandon my party in a time of need, because as a Conservative the Republican party has abandoned me by thinking that I would vote for big liberty stealing government, just to keep a big liberty stealing Democrat from doing the same thing. I am no lap-dog Republican!

All these former Conservative civil servants who have come out in support of McCain are only there for one reason they have prostituted their principles for a cabinet or government position in a McCain presidency (that will never happen) and I for one will remember the Ted Olsons of the world, who put money and power in front of principle.

You Republican elitists can condescend all you want on Ann Coulter and Rush Limbaugh or anyone else who will not sell-out their core beliefs, but my forefathers in the 1700s in Maryland and North Carolina were NOT willing to support tyranny (McCain/Feingold, etc.) and were willing to sacrifice ALL for a vision of what government of the people should be. The Republican elites, just like the Democrat elites have lost that vision and so they have lost my support.

Reagan promised to abolish the Department of Education. Instead he abolished only the right of law-abiding weapons collectors to respectfully and safely own machine guns (lost freedom).

Gingrich's house promised smaller government, tax reform, abortion limits, term limits and litany of other things. They delivered little! Hitting close to my home they also failed to repeal the import ban on safe and humane hunting weapons like the AKS47 with a pistol grip for safer control of the weapon, a folding stock for portability in the woods, a flash suppressor to save the eyes from excessive muzzle flash, detachable magazines for safe loading and unloading of the weapon, and a semiauto fire rate to allow the humane killing of that deer wounded on the first hit before it scampers into the brush. The 7.62x39 (AK47 round) being bullet weight and FPS almost equivelent to a .3030 traditional deer round. Why are all the best new weapons safety, portability and control features called "military features" just because the military was smart enough to adopt them for hunting humans (a deer size creature)? "It is a semiauto version of a machine gun" as the BATFE reports, but all bolt hunting rifles are direct copies of the German made for military Mauser (there goes that stupid fraud copies doctrine the BATFE has sold the American people) Yet, the Republicans didn't have the fortude to even factually challenge the total fraudulent "assault weapon" lies and deceit little less more complicated issues and they failed all of us in relation to returning our liberties stolen by liberals since WWII. I'm done! I am disillusioned with Republican promises never kept.

The Republicans lost the Congress in 2006 because conservatives stayed home! Why should we support Republicans who were willing to consider amnesty and who expanded government and refused to reign in our President on spending and new entitlements?

Don't dare tell me that I need to support McCain because... I've been manipulated by "fear of liberals" and false promises one too many times. I'm done with being a vote slave for Republicans who don't respect my support. At least Democrats are willing to go to the wall for their crazy special interests. It makes me no different then many southern African American who vote against their traditional Christian values because they must vote Democrat in solidarity with their community. I have never respected that position. It isn't mature, sensible, constructive or any other Ivy League condescending manipulative nobleness that wishy-washy elites flatter each other with as they sell-out like Benedict Arnold for the side most likely to win, so that they can position themselves for bones from the new powers that be.
